What it is
Tα1 (Zadaxin in clinical use in some jurisdictions) is a synthetic 28-amino-acid peptide originally characterised from thymus extracts. Approved in several countries for hepatitis B, hepatitis C, and as an immune adjunct in oncology.
Evidence snapshot
Category: Immunity. Status: Mixed. See the references section below for the underlying primary sources.
Mechanism
Modulates T-cell maturation and function, dendritic cell activity, and cytokine production. Acts as an immune ‘normaliser’ rather than a simple stimulator.
Key research findings
Clinical trials have demonstrated efficacy in chronic hepatitis B and as an adjuvant in immunocompromised populations.
Limits of the evidence
Not approved by FDA or EMA. Off-label and research use in longevity contexts lacks rigorous evidence.
